This hyperfauvist painting is based on a series of photos taken during my travels to the exotic island of Zanzibar in East Africa. Here lives the endangered Red Colobus Monkey. These special monkeys have a sweet and inquisitive personality. They are intelligent, playful and somewhat shy. This monkey is watching you from the trees with penetrating eyes that reach into the depths of your soul as both of you observe each other for a rare and intimate exchange.
