A small painting for such a majestic topic. It is easy to understand Lawren Harris’ fascination for icebergs during his travels to the Arctic. The awe felt during a first encounter with large icebergs is indescribable. The mind struggles to imagine the glaciers that are the source of such giants, producing fragments so large, so still, so impassive. Beautiful, yet forbidding.
