Art should pay homage to our heritage.
This is Ottawa. Irving Rivers “We Corner the Market” and the Chateau Lafayette. Both iconic, both legacies in their own right. The 21st Century is rapidly changing our landscape. Long-time established shops and businesses are barely surviving. Sometimes choosing to close and move on.I believe the integrity of Canada’s Nation’s capital will be lost forever, so I decided to record it in bright colours with lots of detail.
This painting is from a series of 12 original acrylic paintings of local businesses in the City of Ottawa completed in 2020/21.

Art should pay homage to our heritage. Our story.
I see the integrity of our Nation's Capital gone forever, so I decided to record it in bright colour with lots of detail."
