Jane E Rowlands
Victoria, British Columbia
Jane Rowlands is a representational artist working in oils. She employs a process of layering to create dimension and translucency and explores the interplay between flowing lines, blocks of colour, light, shade, and negative space. Drawing from her background in graphic design, medical illustration, and fine art, her goal is to create compelling compositions to share with the viewer.
From Montréal, she discovered her artistic passion early, spending much time visiting galleries. She embarked on formal art education at CEGEP in Lennoxville, QC, followed by a BFA at Concordia University. She then pursued studies at the University of Toronto earning a BSc in medical illustration and has spent her working life as a medical artist and graphic designer.
