About the Artwork

I wanted to create a painting that signifies hope and strength and we all have the ability to rise above to overcome our struggles.
Just like the lotus flower is one of the most beautiful nature’s creations it grows in muddy waters and doesn’t let it be affected by it’s living condition.
It symbolizes that no matter what we’re going through, we all have the ability to rise above, overcome our challenges and find peace within ourselves.

ASIZA

Vancouver, British Columbia

Since a young girl, Asiza has been drawing and painting the female form and never understood why.
At 35, Asiza's parents shared the family secret that she was adopted and has an identical twin sister.
Asiza realized her art was her way to stay connected with her twin.

""I was 35 years old before discovering I had a twin sister living half a world away. I paint to share our story of longing, reconnection, and compensating for lost time.""
