On July 1st, the BC Health Orders relaxed and masks were no longer mandatory. Overnight, a sense of normalcy began to settle again in Fort St John. That day, when I went shopping with baby, I quickly realized that what felt 'normal' to us, was completely abnormal for her.
Our baby was born in August 2020, in the middle a global pandemic. For the entirety of her short 11-month life, her 'normal' was a sea of smile-less faces at the store, spending most days in the safety of our home, hugging grandparents through a iPad screen, and watching Mom jump
