In this painting I attempted to depict an elegant subject with a sense of humour. Here, an egret stands tall upon the rocks as a precocious koi fish taunts him from the pond below. I painted this bird in warm and cool whites on a background of greens and oranges in an impressionist style and I used a variety of brush and knifework to give it texture and luminosity.
