This painting is inspired by a hike in 2017 when wildfire smoke filled the valleys. I still went hiking and found the mountain landscapes greyed out with the brightest colour in the foreground where fireweed glowed in the meadows. A different kind of beautiful. The anxiety around COVID-19 invokes some of the same feelings for me as the wildfires in previous years. The uncertainty, the danger, being indoors, and waiting for time to pass.
