The inspiration for this painting comes from an old growth cedar grove in the West Kootenay region. We hiked through the forest during wildfire season and the smoky air caused the sunlight to scatter and stream through the ancient trees. This ancient tree had a real presence - embodying the spirit of a muse as it arched over the trail.
