Janice Feist
BRACEBRIDGE, Ontario
Janice Feist's work encompasses many subjects where colour and texture are the main focus. Her work has an impressionistic bent which evolves with each piece. The style of painting comes from the actual subjects, recollections of time, photographs or dreams. The use of texture is prevalent in the majority of her paintings, which gives a visual and physical tactile presence. Using palette knives as her main tool, her work reflects the energy and urgency she feels while creating.
Janice's overall goal is to relay her experience of the moment, to create a record of that beauty or moving experience that inspired her, provoking emotions in the viewer.

While painting, I am aware that I am transported from everything around me. My focus is completely on what I am doing, moving quickly with my chosen painting tools. It is an instinctual process as I react to what I see and feel while a painting reveals itself to me.
