Lori Lees-Stout
Surrey, British Columbia
Art has always been a part of Lori's life, from art classes during her education degree at the University of Alberta to the present. She started with drawing classes and then progressed to oil paintings where she focused on still life and landscapes. Lori moved from oil paintings to fabric paintings, wall murals, watercolours and finally to her current passion which is varnished watercolours on cradle boards. Doing her watercolours on watercolour paper adhered to a cradle board and then finishing the process with a varnish coat allows her paintings to remain unframed with a painted edge.
Lori looks past the obvious image and colour and intensifies them to the colour, shape and size her imagination takes her to.

I believe art work should bring a sense of joy into your life. It is not just the artwork itself but what is hidden within the piece that speaks to the viewer. When I paint something I do not just see the object but what may be hidden within.
