Peri-Laine Nilan
New Westminster, British Columbia
Peri-Laine is an art specialist with a degree in Fine Arts from UC Berkeley, holds a teaching certificate from the University of British Columbia and a Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Fine Arts Education from Simon Fraser University. Peri-Laine is also a member of the BC Art Teachers Association and the Burnaby Artists Guild. After teaching for thirty-five years in the public school system, she now spends time doing art work in her home studio, presenting demos and workshops, doing some commissioned pieces, as well as teaching community art programs to adults.
I work in a variety of mediums depending on the subject and my current mood. I love the colours, shapes, patterns and textures in nature, which are frequently represented in my work. Weather permitting, I enjoy working in plein air, usually with watercolour and ink, gouache or pastels.
