Painting the many strands and roots of seaweed in this big holdfast led me to think about the tangled knots of relationships in our lives, how survival means hanging on throughout the storms, and that even the difficult currents that swirl around us bring nourishment and strength.
While I was painting this, my husband of 33 years brought me a little heart-shaped stone he had picked up on the beach. So I placed it into the holdfast and there it remains.
