Judy Hilgemann is a diverse and award-winning artist from Haida Gwaii, Canada. Her formal studies included graphic design and a teaching degree, with as much fine art as could possibly be woven in. Judy’s work ranges from in loose plain-air watercolour studies, to large detailed acrylic paintings and portraits, to encaustic images of birds and wildlife. Judy is a published children’s book illustrator. Her latest book is “The Great Grizzlies Go Home” published by Harbour Publishing in April 2020. This picture book tells the true story of two young Grizzly Bears who wander and swim out of their home range in the Great Bear Rainforest, and end up in the small island town of Alert Bay BC.
