For this theme, Proudly Canadian, I chose the Canada Goose, a symbol of endurance and belonging. The map suggests journey while the compass suggests direction. The goose is the navigator of the True North, a place called Canada, a place called home. The flight of the goose into the compass symbolizes the spirit of exploration, resilience and belonging – all things that contribute to the Canadian story.

My first love was to work in oils and this holds true today. The smell, viscosity and feel of paint on my brush as it marks the canvas is what keeps bringing me back to my easel day after day.
