Travelling the Dempster Highway in the Yukon in August was wonderful, despite the rain and snow and mud. My husband and I hauled our trailer to the Tombstone Mountain Campground and used it as our base to explore the area and I even did some collaging in the Tombstone Interpretive Centre. We sipped tea steeped with locally foraged leaves from a big kettle on the wood stove that warmed the "green" building and learned that the Park has an Artist's Residency Program that provided a camping site and open shed for demonstrations and mini workshops.
With more snow threatened we made a hasty retreat and a promise to ourselves to return, perhaps with better weather.
