About the Artwork

After contemplating this hexagonal canvas, I decided to create a flower image that wrapped the canvas with ribbon like petals which flowed over the edges and connected to another flower. I also wanted to showcase the perfect golden ratio or Fibonacci symmetry of a sunflower's centre. Like us, the slightly curved stalks aim to connect with heaven and earth but could easily either spin out of control or float blissfully in space.

Susan Haigh

Salt Spring Island, British Columbia

Susan Haigh is known best for her large and vibrant flower paintings that mimic the bold designs of nature. Lately she has been focussing more on small landscapes and intimate views of flowers on small canvasses. Forever a lover of nature, ideas for paintings are never hard to find.

""My work speaks for itself and its main message is ‘we live on an amazing and beautiful planet’. It champions the fragile and yet resilient natural world, the world we all need to cherish and protect.""
