In creating ‘In Jest’ I pushed the boundaries by trying out a new media to do prints with - the plexiglass surface is soft enough to scratch into and I was also able to melt areas for unique mark makings. The media didn't prove to be the best for printmaking, but it did create such intriguing textures and raw scribble lines that envelop an atmosphere that pulls the viewer into a story of humanity full of affection, tenderness as well as pain. People often hide their hurts, criticism and prejudice under the 'mask' of things said and done 'in jest'. This print reveals some of the contrast of beautiful unity between humans as well as the confusing contrasts within.
