I imagined a late afternoon autumn golden hour as it enveloped the valley below me, the last glow of sunlight shimmering on the surface of the stream and finishing with a brilliant stroke on a distant meadow. Autumnal, is a poetic, luminous landscape painted in the moody tonalist style. The many glazing layers create an ethereal 3D quality that allows the viewer to journey deep into the landscape and become enwrapped in the golden scene.

While visiting various stately homes around Toronto, or attending ballet in a turreted old Victorian, I would be suddenly captured by a dark, moody landscape and be lulled into a quiet respite by the serene, atmospheric, ethereal glow. My goal is for my paintings to evoke that same feeling.
"Painting in the tonalist style, I create atmospheric, moody landscapes which convey a feeling for the passage of time and evoke in the observer a sense of quietude and pensiveness. I hope to impart some lulling solace amidst the discordant clamour of this world."
