About the Artwork

The canvas captures the crisp, alpine air of Yoho National Park, highlighting the striking turquoise waters of Emerald Lake. The deep blues and whites of the ancient glacier perched high on the peaks above create a striking contrast against the milky-blue hue of the lake below.

If you look closely at the waterline in the foreground, a clever detail emerges. Almost camouflaged by thick brush, the shape of bear is visible, quietly foraging just yards away from the lakeshore.

It's a playful nod to the question asked by the passing hikers we met last summer on our hike around Emerald Lake: "Have you seen the bear?"
