Maddy is my daughter; a funny, feisty, honest-to-a-fault young woman. When I painted this picture she was struggling daily with depression and suicide ideation. She didn’t know why she felt so bad all the time or why she cried every day. She was in her first serious relationship that seemed to be going well and she had a good job that she loved, but on the commute home she imagined what it would be like to drive into oncoming traffic. We were devastated for her and urgently pressed her to see a counsellor. This painting is meant to depict her

Sheila Van Delft is a visual artist who paints landscape and wildlife with sensitivity and thoughtfulness and hopes to bring a little of the wilds into the homes of her collectors. Her images include a wide variety of subjects such as mountains, forests, lakes, rivers, and BC birds and wildlife.
"I have been an artist since I was a child and can’t imagine my life without painting. My favourite subjects to paint are landscape and wildlife so it’s amazing to be able to paint what I see around me every day."
