The Nechako River Migratory Bird Sanctuary is an area of shallow backwaters and islands supporting a variety of aquatic vegetation and providing valuable bird habitats.

Water, in its varying forms, has always been a source of wonder and inspiration in my life, from early childhood travels by ship, to my eventual career researching wetlands. The various forms of water (solid, fluid, vapour) provide an endless source of artistic inspiration with dramatic colour variations, imaginative shapes and reflections.

Nechako Sunrise depicts flowing water as well as the vapor in clouds. Barely visible in the early morning light is a small flock of swans, gently drifting in for a morning feed.
