About the Artwork

I am interested in the history of train stations and those who lived in them. I grew up hearing many interesting stories from my dad about the train station he was raised in, in a small hamlet in central Alberta. My parents lived in Banff the first year they were married, I love to imagine my grandparents making the trip to Banff via train to visit them. I chose to make this painting reflect a quiet time of day, when there is no hustle and bustle of visitors. -- This is a fun and instructional quote I heard many times

I work primarily with acrylics, alcohol ink and mixed media. I love to make large spontaneous marks when I begin most paintings. These loose marks suggest routes that I can take with the work. Since I am a tactile learner it is important for me to add layers of texture.
