This painting was done from sketches and reference photos I Took on a visit to Quebec City.
I had done some plein air painting of the caleches there, and realized that while all the caleches were personalized by the owners, They all followed the same general structure and trappings.
The driver relaxing on his seat, wearing shades with tie askew was typical of the scene.
