About the Artwork

On one of our drives to Malagash (Northumberland Strait Nova Scotia) we passed a lot of houses that look like this. Stately, isolated, maybe a bit lonely. I love these flat maritime landscapes that go on and on until they meet the sea-- perfect unto themselves.

Dennis J Brandt

Vancouver, British Columbia

Dennis is a painter working primarily in oil on canvas. Self-taught, his 30 years as an engineer, activist, and avid homosexual have embellished his ego as a painter. He is a newly minted Exhibiting Member Status at the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) as of 2026.

"In a society dominated by consumer appeals and market research, I want to paint an opportunity to stop scrolling, to see to the root of something that matters, or at least breathe some clean air. I want us to remember our collective right to live in authenticity, without guilt."
