This sculpture is all about edges! Note the crisp shadow lines created by the curvilinear edges that swirl in rhythm with the green/grey striations of this marble. I've titled the sculpture, as the composition is reminiscent of the numbers 6 and 9, lying sideways. It also reminds one of a reclining female torso, balanced on one hip.
The material is a variety of marble from Carrara, Italy, called cipollino. This word means onion in English and refers to the yellow white colour and colourful striations that remind one of this vegetable. I've left the surfaces with a matte finish to allow the stone to successfully hold shadow, yet is very smooth to the touch. It is mounted on an egg shaped black granite base.

"I had my epiphany at the age of 20 to turn my artistic path to stone sculpture while in Florence, Italy after I witnessed first hand the unfinished works of Michelanglo. My first love is the human form, but I also enjoy creating abstracts and wildlife iimages."
