It is a privilege to hike in the remote temperate rainforests of Vancouver Island and to kayak through the Pinkertons and Broken Group Islands. Accessible only by boat, this area is a spectacular wilderness that feels as wild as it is. Safely peering through the window, we were delighted each morning to see this black bear and her cub foraging in the meadow behind our lodging. Mother nature’s gift included a breakfast of tender green grasses and tasty blackberries.
