I have carved this pure abstract form from petacchi marble, a variety of stone quarried in the mountains above the famous town of Carrara, Italy. Although an abstract, the form likens the piece to a female torso, perhaps with angel wings. The sculpture has a smooth matte finish which contrasts with the highly polished marble base. The sculpture is wonderful to the touch.
The flared bottom emulates a woman's hips, the narrow middle, her waist and the wide upper portion, her shoulders. Note how I carved the marble curve forms very thin, which reveals the stone's translucent properties allowing light to penetrate. There is also the form of the torso's neck at the top of the piece.
I've utilized several edges that carry the viewer's eye up and down and around the sculpture.

"I had my epiphany at the age of 20 to turn my artistic path to stone sculpture while in Florence, Italy after I witnessed first hand the unfinished works of Michelanglo. My first love is the human form, but I also enjoy creating abstracts and wildlife iimages."
