About the Artwork

A Place to Rest invites all to meander along the undulating, pretty shoreline of one of the many marine beaches on Vancouver Island. This spot, with artistic license, is at Biggs Park south of Nanaimo, but could just as well be anywhere else along the coast. A light breeze decorates the water with small wavelets while protected areas of the water glow with deeply coloured reflections of beautiful trees. Calming blues and greens encourage the viewer to stop and sit, while the old driftwood log lodged in the sand is a perfect place to rest.
