Still Standing. I found this mature Douglas-fir on the edge of a cut block, BC Central Interior. Most of us photograph our subjects in sunlight, but doing so for tree bark casts a uniform brown/grey colour over the bark. This tree was photographed on the north side on a cloudy day, and under these conditions, more of the true colours of the corky bark were allowed to shine through. The artist's license does the rest.
