I am always attracted to water. I have little desire to swim and be in it, but I always seem to find myself gazing through it as though it is a looking glass and admiring its power to selectively reveal the natural treasures it covers, or conversely, deflect my vision with glare. "Kootenay Lake" is based directly on a location study that was painted in the morning light that danced and played on the still surface of the water.
