About the Artwork

Our old gray cat, Berla, enjoying the warmth of the morning sun with only her shadow for company. Cats always seem to search out the warmest part of a room at any time of day. Berla loved to sit by this wall every morning when the sun would be just right for an mid morning sunbath.

Marni Koelln

Airdrie, Alberta

Marni’s work centers on her love for horses, her portfolio also includes a variety of portraits of dogs, cats, people, still life and landscapes. Her work is on display at the Route 22 Gallery in Cochrane, Alberta

""I strive for a level of realism in the horse that moves beyond mere depiction. The direct application of pure pigment allows me to work spontaneously, creating a sense of gestural emotion and vibrant light. I challenge myself to create a realistic piece that “comes to life” on the canvas."
