This Pastel painting of a matched team of blue roans was inspired by a photo I took while at the annual Chore Horse Competition at the Historic Bar U Ranch in Longview, AB. This team was working keen but well in hand, while being put thru their paces at the competition.

""I strive for a level of realism in the horse that moves beyond mere depiction. The direct application of pure pigment allows me to work spontaneously, creating a sense of gestural emotion and vibrant light. I challenge myself to create a realistic piece that “comes to life” on the canvas."
