About the Artwork

"Sea to Sky Ascent" was shown at Fabriano in Acquarello 2019, Italy as part of the group of watercolour artists representing Canada. It depicts a view over Squamish Terminals from a vantage point on the Sea to Sky Summit evacuation route trail. I would hike this trail every Monday early morning in 2018/2019 in training for a subsequent trip to the Bugaboos, Western Canadian Rockies. I was struck by the cool morning air, the light mist + diffused light, which exaggerated the distinction between foreground and background.

Zoë Evamy

Garibaldi Highlands, British Columbia

The expressive nature of water media fascinates me and forms the basis of all my work – it’s a way of thinking and problem solving for me. I particularly enjoy a flowing, slightly unpredictable approach in a variety of fluid media.

"My paintings are often an immediate and personal response to natural forms and rhythms found in the Pacific Northwest landscape."
