Paper Birch (Betula papyrifera) - Cariboo, BC
Paper birch is found all over Canada and its bark often peels in large sheets or smaller strips. Indigenous People used it for canoes, baskets, cradles, or food storage. Birch sap is delicious, fresh or fermented, and is used as a health tonic.
