About the Artwork

This impressionist piece is a study of the shapes and textures of petals and leaves as they dance across the canvas. Rich colours from each botanical season add depth. It is abstract but also full of details that invite the viewer to look closer.

This artwork exhibits online-only as a recognized artwork. Within our organization, recognized artwork has met the standards required to participate in our exhibitions. However, due to the volume of successful submissions to this exhibition, we can't fit all pieces in our in-gallery exhibition! Karen Marki's paintings are layers of several works built onto the canvas like an excavation site, encouraging the viewer to see what lies beneath. Her process includes using unusual tools to create markings and texture inspired by both the urban and natural world.
