About the Artwork
This young woman had been rescued from a precarious life on the street.
In a shop, I met her perched atop a huge mound of paper. With other young women working alongside, she was sorting the hand-made paper.
The bright colours of her sari contrasting the light colours of the paper inspired me to paint her. She offered me a tentative smile while she worked.
