About the Artwork
The spiral occurs in all living things and has become the topic of many studies in fields such as science, mathematics, philosophy, design, and art. No wonder many feel a connection to the spiral. Its form, which suggests expansion from the centre, has come to symbolize development and evolution.
This shell comes from a Spirula-spirula, a tiny shellfish living in deep tropical and subtropical waters.
