About the Artwork

Scissors, while such an everyday object, seem to hold a multitude of meanings relevant to the theme of peace and trust: they are an ultimate symbol of cooperation working beautifully to achieve a task (I recall my toddler grandson puzzling through how to coordinate the operation); yet also, they are too sharp to trust, if not used with care. Especially, you would not want them near the eyes. In this image, are we seeing cooperation or mututal aggression? An expression of trust or a complex détente? Do the two halves make a whole, or make a mess?

Oiseau, AFCA

Argenta, British Columbia

Oiseau lives and paints in the mountains of British Columbia, Canada. While she focuses primarily on portraiture and the figure, plein air landscape painting is also an important part of her practice and inspiration.

"In painting as in life, whatever distance you travel just opens up further vistas for exploration. Subtleties, bold statements, complexities of relationships, colour, colour, colour. I wish I could paint forever!"
