The world is in peril - politically, environmentally and emotionally. There is a sense of chaos and uncertainty that I tried to capture in this piece. The colours invoke a darkness that reflects the fatigue and worry that currently face people in countries around the globe. We all are wondering what the future holds while trying to cherish and appreciate the here and now.

Karen Marki
Vancouver, British Columbia
Karen Marki's paintings are layers of several works built onto the canvas like an excavation site, encouraging the viewer to see what lies beneath. Her process includes using unusual tools to create markings and texture inspired by both the urban and natural world.
