Not For Sale
For quite a few years I puzzled over what to do with this long hexagonal canvas I had been given. After many sketches exploring ideas I decided to take the plunge and make it this winter’s challenge. Incorporating a box shape was central to my plan, the feeling of being boxed in at times by our situation is something we can all relate to. Remembering that the only constant in life is change can help us get through. With the passing of our parents, an opportunity can arise to break free from our self imposed box. The flowers in the painting could signify new growth, condolences or commemoration of loved ones no longer with us. The figure contemplates the empty but gentle landscape, the ladder suggesting an opportunity to explore new possibilities.
Honouring the natural cycles of life, death and rebirth we can be ready for the next chapter in our lives.
