A fisherman's brightly painted boat waits to depart for the fishing grounds when evening falls. During a trip to Sri Lanka I was enchanted by the brightly painted fishing boats clustered around the coastal villages. Upon returning home I began a series of paintings depicting the older wooden boats that so many Sri Lankan families depend on to make a living.
