This painting began soon after an early morning dream-like vision. It was of a vivid view out to an open sky from an earthy cave-like surrounding. After a month long pause, the direction became clear to connect the visceral root-like borders of the cavernous surroundings. I find it intriguing the way next steps for a work become clear and exciting after a pause in it’s progression. The lines of paint came together with a harmonious sense of freedom. This led to notions of bird like movements connecting the ‘root’ like tethers as part of an ecological conversation. The culmination of
