This graphite drawing intricately addresses a compassion for nature, with the serene being settled amongst the tree branches.
Below the upper face, the lower one is positioned with an open eye in what would be the heart area of the figure above. The placement of this eye in the heart region is symbolic, implying that true compassion comes from the heart's ability to see and feel deeply.
The complexity of lines in this drawing reflect the seen and unseen, intangible networks between us and our surroundings. This approach is in so much of my artwork, addressing the significance of many levels of natural communications.

Victoria Mitchell explores emotional, visceral, and environmental sensitivities, through abstract and representational drawings and paintings. She is influenced by extensive studies of body structure and kinetics, and is strongly inspired by connections with our natural surroundings.
"While painting, I absorb into the exploration of environmental, physical & emotional dynamics. These expressions which might otherwise go undefined, demonstrate connections between these different realms of experience. The opportunity for introspection and sharing, brings me excitement and joy in the creation of each piece."
