About the Artwork

Tranquil Glow draws its inspiration from the serene beauty of Lake O’Hara—a place that has captivated the my heart and those of artists for generations, including JEH MacDonald. This piece reflects the gentle hush of evening, when daylight lingers in warm tones, the lake settles into stillness, and the trees cast mirrored silhouettes across the water. A golden larch, lit by the sun’s final touch, glows softly—a quiet beacon in the fading light.

Valerie Speer, AFCA

Rosebud, Alberta

Valerie is renowned for her dream-like paintings characterized by flowing, simplistic lines, a skillful play of light, and subtle gradations of color. These stylized elements come together to create the signature tranquil essence of Valerie's work. As a landscape painter, she takes pleasure in immersing herself in the great outdoors,

"As a landscape artist, I love hiking and immersing myself in nature before painting. My personal experiences of stillness, hope, and awe inspire the stories I want to convey in my art - moments I want to share and cherish long after they happen."
