About the Artwork

The sky, became a churning, inky black, ripped open by jagged bolts of lightning that danced across the horizon like celestial serpents, each flash illuminating the world in a blinding, ephemeral brilliance, followed by a thunderous roar. Its intensity was multiplied by the expansive view of the entire cloud formation as the lines of lightning danced over the ocean. In an attempt to capture this amazing weather phenomenon I used the watercolour pigments in their most intense form to create a symphony of purples, ultramarine and black to echo the raw power of the storm.
