About the Artwork

This painting entitled "Indelible Ecological Imprint" shows an aerial view of how western agricultural practice has transformed natural environments to develop this part of our country. Most of the land in Western Canada was divided into a grid system of one square mile. These sections were distributed to new settlers for agricultural and other purposes. With this system, new boundaries and values replaced previous land stewardship.

A lot of these sections provide essential food to the population. Nature tries to balance the ecosystem by natural processes but we keep shifting the balance more quickly than natural processes. Modern agricultural practices

Sylvie Pinard

My paintings or installations are an invitation to a colorful world as seen through the eyes of an artist and geologist. I want the viewer to feel our connection with nature and our environment or to dive in an imaginary world to escape the reality of everyday life.

"My motto “Explore, Learn, Create” summarizes my journey as a multimedia artist as I like to call myself. My exploration of the world with all the possibilities explains my different styles, media, subjects and supports. The main thread is colors."
