Sylvie holds a special fondness for the environments and the natural world. As a youth she was fascinated with the beauty of nature with its variety of colors, shapes and textures. Her early artistic adventures started with oil paints. Laying aside her brush and paints, she entered the world of academia to study science and obtain a PhD in geology with a speciality in micropaleontology. Her experiences as a geologist shaped her artistic journey and deepened her belief that the fields of art and science are beautifully linked. In her studio, she works from her photographs, memory, imagination or a combination of the three. Her works range from representational to non-representational as she explores the possibilities using different mediums
