Belorussian, Georgian, Kazakh, Russian, Ukrainian, Uzbek … Born in the USSR, we are citizens of different countries now. But paradoxically, here in Canada we belong to the same diaspora. We share the same memories of childhood and the same nostalgia. My still life represents mostly items associated with the Russian tradition, which is my ethnicity, but I have no doubt that my dear friends from the former USSR republics would gladly join me for a cup of tea at this table with a samovar (enough tea for everybody!), same as I would enjoy their traditional food and especially their company.
