It clings precariously to bare rock, somehow surviving on rainwater and the tenacity of its root system. I marvel at the will to live; the sheer drive to extract nutrition from the thinnest of soils. Other trees are uprooted in the constant landslides, but this one grows gnarled and twisted, roots grabbing on, holding, grasping, a true survivor.
